#26- Visit a Friend

I had been thinking all year about what trip I would love to do and who I would love to visit. From travelling in previous years, I’m blessed to have friends scattered all over the globe. It all took a different turn last week when at the very last minute I decided to head to Oakville.

The fires in Banff were really affecting my breathing. It was too much for me to handle and I had to leave ASAP. It was the fastest trip I’ve ever booked, got all my stuff covered, packed up and left. It used to immediately feel like home walking through the chaos at Pearson Airport. This time it felt foreign.

The beauty of this mini trip to Oakville was seeing my friends and finally being able to celebrate everything I have missed over the past few years. It is my choice to be away from everyone, which does mean missing out on a lot. I was finally able to meet babies, see engagement rings, wedding pics, visit new homes and spend some time with my family. It filled my cup to know I am still connected to some amazing people.

One thing this trip did do, was re-assure me that moving away from Ontario was the best choice for me. I no longer feel rooted to the community, or connected to the town. Walking around I noticed a lot of waste, plastic especially, and cookie cutter homes being built on every piece of land imaginable. I am really happy with where I am at in life both physically in Banff, with my work and my core values. I am happy to report that I came home to blue skies and fresh air and have these amazing memoriesto share with you all.
