#2. Be A Model.
I was lucky to be asked to model in the first ever Dance For Joy Fashion Show. The studio put together a Weekend of Fabulous Fitness & Fashion. I was chosen to model for Lululemon – which I could not have been happier to do – especially after seeing some of the other models shoes. The ladies from Lululemon Banff put together an amazing outfit for me, all black with mesh accents. At first when I found out it was just a bra and tights I had some reservations. I had flashbacks to a fashion show I was in when I was around 9 years old for my school or something and was the only one modelling a bikini! Thankfully when I put the outfit on, it was just showing the right amount of skin.
Getting my hair and make-up done was a treat! The girls at Salon 1463 treated Catherine and I like queens. I’ve never worn that much makeup at once – but it was fun to feel super fancy for once (even while in yoga clothes). It didn’t show in pictures but they spray painted the shaved part of my head. If I could hire a professional hair braider to do my hair like that every day I would!
The actual fashion show was so much fun. With Miss Ellen Q – Banff’s resident Drag Queen – hosting the show the audience was entertained from start to finish. Catherine and I put together a yoga themed walk – which I appreciated again as I have exactly one pose that I can bust out. Thanks to all the local salons, artists and retailers who helped put on this event. And of course Kim – the founder and mastermind behind the studio. Without her Banff would not have this amazing space to sweat, sparkle and shine in!
